Mwau Brian
Brian Mwau’s professional journey is a compelling narrative of ambition, setbacks, and a steadfast rise to meaningful leadership. It’s a story that resonates deeply with Kenya’s youth—and demonstrates the power of transformation. What began as a flashy financial win turned into a powerful life lesson.
As a student at JKUAT (Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology), Brian seized a land-deal opportunity that earned him KSh 20 million at just 19 years old. However, he spent it all within nine months, splurging on extravagant living in Runda—complete with cars, drivers, and lavish social life—only to soon find himself in deep trouble being forced to return to his family home in Makueni. This turbulent chapter, though painful, was pivotal to his personal growth and career redirection.
Crucially, Brian pivoted from despair towards purpose, catalyzed by a spiritual renewal and an unexpected mentorship. He recounted fasting and visiting Chris Kirubi, the late business magnate, who graciously responded to his bold outreach—leading to a mentorship connection that opened doors within corporate Kenya.
Brian’s renewed journey took root within Centum Investment PLC and its subsidiary Tribus-TSG. There, he transitioned from intern to Cyber Security Division Lead and ultimately to leading the Ajiri Program, a youth-focused initiative designed to bridge young Kenyans into employable roles through training and empowerment. His strategic leadership earned a USD 2.19 million Mastercard Foundation grant, underscoring his capacity to scale impactful programs.
Today, Brian serves as Business Development Coordinator at TRIFIC, Kenya’s Two Rivers International Finance and Innovative Centre. In this role, he’s pivotal in positioning TRIFIC as “Africa’s Gateway to the World” and steering regional innovation-focused infrastructure.
Brian’s story doesn’t just represent personal achievement—it embodies national aspirations. He’s been recognized among Kenya’s Top 35 Under 35 (ICT category) and serves as a Brand Ambassador for Centum, symbolizing youth innovation and transformation.
