Abdi Tari Sasura

Hon. Abdi Tari Sasura, the former Member of Parliament for Saku Constituency, was remembered for his unwavering commitment to the people of northern Kenya and his tireless efforts to foster peace and unity in the region. Throughout his tenure, he worked diligently to improve the socio-economic conditions of his constituents, advocating for equitable development, infrastructure improvements, and access to essential services such as education and healthcare. His leadership was characterized by inclusivity and dialogue, bringing together diverse communities in Marsabit County to resolve long-standing conflicts and foster mutual understanding.

Tragically, Hon. Sasura was among the leaders who lost their lives in the 2006 Marsabit plane crash while on a peace mission. The delegation was traveling to address inter-communal tensions in northern Kenya—an effort that underlined his dedication to peacebuilding and national cohesion. His passing was not only a loss to the region but to the entire nation, as he exemplified what it means to serve with integrity, courage, and selflessness. Hon. Sasura’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and his contributions continue to inspire future generations of leaders committed to justice, unity, and sustainable development in marginalized areas of Kenya.
