Al-Haj Adan Wachu Bulle Chachole
Dr. Al-Haj Adan Wachu Bulle Chachole was honoured for his exemplary contribution to national cohesion and integration, a legacy built on decades of dedicated service to peacebuilding and unity in Kenya. During the 2007/2008 post-election violence, he played a pivotal role as a mediator between opposing political factions, working tirelessly to restore peace and foster dialogue at a time when the country was deeply divided. His ability to bring stakeholders together and find common ground was instrumental in easing tensions.
Beyond crisis mediation, Dr. Adan contributed significantly to shaping Kenya’s governance framework by providing technical expertise during the drafting of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution, a historic milestone in the country’s democratic journey. He has also served in key leadership roles that have promoted interfaith harmony and mutual understanding.
As secretary general of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) and chair of the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK), he championed collaboration among religious groups to address national challenges collectively. Furthermore, as the founding chairman of The National Heroes Council, he worked to preserve and honour Kenya’s heritage and unity.
