Amisa Rashid Mohamed

Amisa Rashid Mohamed is the visionary Founder and Executive Director of Nivishe Foundation, a grassroots organization dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, trauma healing, and peacebuilding, particularly among youth and marginalized communities in Kenya. With a background in psychology and peace studies, Amisa has carved out a unique space at the intersection of mental wellness and conflict resolution.

Born and raised in a community affected by social unrest and stigma surrounding mental illness, Amisa founded Nivishe to provide safe spaces for psychological support, personal development, and social reintegration. The organization focuses on trauma-informed care, community dialogues, and non-violent approaches to conflict, especially in urban informal settlements and areas affected by extremism and insecurity.

Through her leadership, Nivishe has impacted thousands of young people and women by offering mental health training, counseling services, and resilience-building workshops. She has worked with schools, prisons, and refugee communities, championing conversations that deconstruct stigma and build emotional well-being.

Amisa Rashid has been recognized both locally and internationally for her innovative work, emerging as a leading voice for mental health advocacy in Africa. Her vision is a peaceful, inclusive society where healing, dignity, and empathy are accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance.
