Angel Warira Mbuthia

Angel Warira Mbuthia is a rising pan-African youth leader and advocate who was recently elected as the inaugural Chairperson of the COMESA Youth Advisory Panel, a groundbreaking body created to amplify youth voices within regional economic and policy frameworks. In this historic role, Angel is tasked with shaping youth-centered recommendations and fostering engagement across the 21 member states of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), ensuring that young people are not only consulted but actively involved in the region’s integration and development agenda.
In parallel, Angel also serves as the Secretary for Gender and International Relations at the All-Africa Students Union (AASU), headquartered in Accra, Ghana. There, she champions gender equity and cross-border collaboration among Africa’s student populations, working to bridge policy gaps and strengthen representation for young people at continental and global levels.
With a passion for diplomacy, equity, and youth empowerment, Angel’s leadership reflects a bold new generation of changemakers who are stepping into spaces of influence with clarity and purpose. Her roles across COMESA and AASU position her at the heart of African youth policy and her voice is helping to shape a continent where young people are not just the future, but the present.
