Anthony Mwangi

Kenyan cybersecurity strategist Anthony Mwangi has spent the past decade turning boardroom talk about digital risk into firm-wide resilience. Armed with a business IT degree from JKUAT and a master’s in information technology from Strathmore, he cut his teeth at PwC probing critical infrastructure for flaws, then joined the World Economic Forum to co-author the first African playbook on public-private cyber readiness. Today, as director of cybersecurity at KPMG, he leads a cross-border team that stress-tests banks, telecoms and tax platforms, rolling out zero-trust roadmaps that have slashed incident response times by half and shielded millions of customer records from breach.

Mwangi also chairs ISACA Kenya, where he brokers scholarships, champions gender-balanced boot camps and drafts governance benchmarks now referenced by regulators in six countries. He is a fixture on task forces shaping Kenya’s data-protection rules and consults the African Union on harmonising e-commerce standards so startups can scale securely across borders. Next on his agenda: launching a pan-African cyber talent incubator and piloting AI-driven threat-intelligence exchanges that turn fragmented alerts into continent-wide early-warning systems. For Mwangi, safeguarding Africa’s digital economy isn’t just a technical mandate; it’s a generational promise.
