Augustine Kipsongok Arap Cheruyot
Gen. Augustine was honoured for his distinguished service to the nation as a military officer for more than 38 years, a career marked by dedication, discipline, and exemplary leadership. He was enlisted in the military in 1959 as a trainee junior officer and, through commitment and professionalism, steadily rose through the ranks to the position of Major General. Over the decades, he served in various strategic capacities, contributing significantly to Kenya’s security and defence operations.
His outstanding service earned him numerous national honours and decorations, including the Campaign Medal in 1968, the Presidential Installation Medal in 1981, the Kenyatta Commemoration Medal in 1981, the 10th Anniversary of Kenya’s Independence Medal in 1983, the 20th Independence Anniversary Medal with bar in 1984, the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) in 1986, and the Moran of the Golden Heart (MGH) in 1995.
After his retirement in 1998, Gen. Augustine continued to serve the country in civilian capacities. He is currently the Vice Patron of the Agricultural Society of Kenya and actively participates in leadership and mentorship as a member of various school boards, continuing his lifelong commitment to national development and service.
