Bright Gameli Mawudor

Dr. Bright Gameli Mawudor is a Kenyan cybersecurity architect helping shape Africa’s defence posture in the Web 3 era. He leads Cyber Security Engineering at MARA, the pan-African blockchain and digital-assets firm rolling out compliant exchanges and developer rails in 25 markets. A PhD graduate in Information Security from Pukyong National University, Korea, he previously headed cyber resilience at Internet Solutions Kenya (Dimension Data) and directed offensive-security services at Cellulant and Huawei’s East Africa SOC.

In 2014 he founded AfricaHackon, the continent’s first vendor-neutral hacking conference and training collective; its boot-camps have certified more than 9,000 young professionals and supplied talent to ministries, banks and telcos. An adviser to the African Union’s Cybersecurity Expert Group, Mawudor co-drafted the 2024 AU Guideline on Securing Digital Identity and chairs the Kenya National Blockchain Security Taskforce. His research on domain squatting and smart-contract exploits is cited in IEEE and ACM journals, and he has presented exploits at Black Hat, Def CON and the Africa Cyber Defense Forum.

A Fellow of ISACA and board member of the Kenya ICT Action Network, he mentors girls in STEM through the SHEHACKS initiative. In 2025 he was named to CIO Africa’s Top 45 Under 45 for advancing cyber resilience.
