Bundi Kathani Ntari

Bundi, also known by his revered name General Kibaru, was being feted for his immense and courageous contribution to Kenya’s struggle for independence. A fearless leader and committed patriot, he served as the second in command to the legendary General Baimungi, who oversaw liberation activities in the Mt. Kenya region.

In this strategic role, General Kibaru played a vital part in coordinating Mau Mau fighters, organizing tactical operations, and ensuring effective communication between various resistance units. His leadership in the mountainous terrain required not only military skill but also an intimate understanding of the land, which was crucial for planning ambushes, securing supply routes, and avoiding colonial patrols.

General Kibaru’s unwavering dedication to the cause of freedom inspired both his comrades and the communities that supported them. He stood firm against immense challenges, enduring harsh conditions, constant danger, and the threat of capture. His efforts were instrumental in sustaining the liberation struggle in the Mt. Kenya region, a key stronghold of resistance.

By honouring Bundi, the nation acknowledges not only his personal bravery but also his pivotal role in the collective fight that ultimately secured Kenya’s independence. His legacy remains etched in the country’s history.
