Caleb Ambulwa Burudi
Caleb Ambulwa Burudi honoured for his outstanding contribution to environmental conservation and peacebuilding through large-scale tree planting and ecosystem restoration initiatives across Kenya. A passionate environmentalist and community mobilizer, he has spearheaded nationwide reforestation campaigns that have seen the planting of over two million trees, directly supporting the government’s ambitious goal of growing 15 billion trees by 2032. His work reflects a deep commitment to both environmental sustainability and social harmony.
Among his notable initiatives is the Tree for Peace Project, which promotes coexistence and unity along the borders of Kakamega, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, and Vihiga counties. This project not only helps restore degraded landscapes but also fosters peace among neighbouring communities by bringing them together through collective environmental action. Caleb has also led impactful tree planting drives in Kirimum, Samburu County, and championed the rehabilitation of vital ecosystems such as the Kakamega Forest.
Through his establishment of community nurseries and the donation of more than 100,000 seedlings to local farmers, schools, and institutions, Caleb has empowered communities in Kerarapon, Kisaju, and Enchan in Kajiado County. His dedication continues to inspire a generation of eco-conscious citizens working toward a greener, more peaceful, and sustainable Kenya.
