Concilia Owire

Concilia Owire is a trailblazing Kenyan locomotive driver and electrical engineer, renowned for breaking gender barriers in the railway industry. In 2017, she made history as the first woman to drive the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train from Nairobi to Mombasa, a significant milestone in Kenya’s transportation sector. Her journey began in 2016 when she was selected, along with seven other women, for a specialized railway training program in China, sponsored by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
