David Mutembei Festus
David Mutembei Festus was recognized for his outstanding contribution to environmental conservation, particularly in the preservation and protection of endangered wildlife species. A dedicated conservation officer and leader, he has played a pivotal role in safeguarding Kenya’s rich biodiversity through his tireless efforts in combating poaching and wildlife trafficking. His unwavering commitment to protecting elephants, rhinos, and other vulnerable species has made a lasting impact on wildlife security within key conservation areas.
As a key coordinator within the Aberdare Investigation, Intelligence, and Wildlife Protection Department, David has successfully led numerous high-impact operations aimed at curbing illegal wildlife trade. Under his leadership, his teams have apprehended poachers and intercepted illegal wildlife products, including the recovery of more than twelve pieces of elephant and rhino tusks in Nyeri and Nyandarua counties. These efforts have not only disrupted poaching networks but also reinforced Kenya’s broader mission to protect its national heritage.
