Donald Wakhura
Kenyan technologist Donald Wakhura has built a career on translating boardroom ambition into code-driven results across two continents. Armed with a degree in information technology from Moi University, he cut his teeth rolling out core-banking upgrades in Nairobi before PwC tapped him for increasingly complex transformation assignments. Today, as senior manager and digital transformation & change lead for PwC Ireland, Wakhura operates from Dublin yet drives strategy for 16 African member firms, designing cloud migrations, data-analytics sprints and low-code toolkits that have shaved months off client onboarding and unlocked new revenue channels in sectors from insurance to agribusiness.
Wakhura’s playbook blends human-centred design with rigorous change management: cross-border “digital garage” workshops that upskill finance teams, behaviour-science nudges that boost adoption rates, and real-time dashboards that let executives watch process backlogs vanish in days, not quarters. Colleagues credit him with turning pilot projects into firm-wide accelerators; clients cite 20-plus-percent efficiency gains within a year of engagement. Off the clock he mentors Kenyan graduates via virtual boot camps, insisting that proximity to Silicon Valley is less important than proximity to user pain points. With automation pipelines queued for East Africa’s public-sector reforms and Gen-AI proof-of-concepts expanding in Europe, Wakhura is positioning PwC, and the continent’s rising tech talent, to deliver smarter services at global scale.
