Dr. Elizabeth Jemutai Keitany
Dr. Elizabeth Jemutai Keitany was honoured for her remarkable dedication to transforming communities in Elgeyo Marakwet and neighbouring regions. Her work reflects deep compassion, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to social change.
She has rehabilitated women previously involved in illicit alcohol brewing by offering them training and sustainable sources of income. Through her support, many have regained their dignity and economic independence. Dr. Keitany also provides scholarships and mentorship to needy students, orphans, young mothers, and vulnerable learners, helping them access education and realize their potential.
To promote literacy, she has established community libraries and donated essential learning materials that improve academic performance. She also champions menstrual health by distributing sanitary pads and promoting menstrual dignity among schoolgirls.
Beyond education, Dr. Keitany founded the Kenya Grannies (Masters) Football Federation, an initiative that encourages physical and mental wellness among elderly women. The team proudly represented Kenya at the Grannies International Football Tournament in Limpopo, South Africa, in 2024.
Through her initiatives, Dr. Keitany continues to uplift communities, inspire hope, and create lasting impact across generations.
