Esther Nyambura Gathuo

Esther Nyambura Gathuo was recognized for her strong advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities across Kenya. Her efforts have created lasting opportunities for inclusion, empowerment, and dignity within marginalized communities.

Through her proposal to the Mastercard Foundation and the United States International University–Africa, Esther helped establish a modern computer laboratory in Thika, Kiambu County. The facility now serves as a center for digital learning and inclusion. It provides persons with disabilities access to technology and training that improve their skills and open doors to employment.

Beyond building the lab, Esther has sourced assistive devices that continue to change lives. Her work enables people with disabilities to pursue education, work, and entrepreneurship with confidence and independence.

Driven by compassion and resilience, Esther challenges social barriers and promotes equal opportunities for all. Her leadership stands as a powerful example of how one advocate can spark real change. Through her dedication, she has improved access to education and employment while inspiring others to support inclusivity and human rights across the country.
