Ezekiel Macharia
Ezekiel Macharia is a Kenyan actuary and financial-services executive who heads Kenbright Holdings Limited as Managing Director and Group Chief Actuary. Since joining the Nairobi-based firm in 2016, he has steered its evolution from a local broker into a regional powerhouse offering actuarial consulting, insurance and re-insurance broking, health-tech administration, and pension-fund services in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Macharia introduced IFRS 17 readiness support, micro-insurance product design, and data-science capabilities that now serve more than 60 insurers and 200 pension schemes. In 2023 Kenbright became only the second organisation in Africa to earn the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (UK) Quality Assurance Scheme accreditation, testimony to rigorous professional standards he embedded across the group.
A Fellow of both the Actuarial Society of Kenya and the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries, he holds a BSc in Actuarial Science from Jomo Kenyatta University and an MBA in Strategic Management from United States International University-Africa. Macharia chairs the Alternative Investments Committee of the Fund Managers Association, sits on the Insurance Regulatory Authority’s sandbox advisory panel, and lectures part-time on risk modelling at Strathmore Business School.
Passionate about talent development, he founded ActuariaHub, a mentorship platform that has coached 1,200 Kenyan graduates for actuarial exams, reinforcing his commitment to raising actuarial standards and financial inclusion across East Africa.
