Georgina Njeri Kirungo

Georgina Njeri Kirungo is a Kenyan beauty entrepreneur and founder–CEO of Nywele Creative, the premium-hair brand she launched online in 2012 with KES 40,000 in savings and a single suitcase of virgin bundles. A decade later Nywele operates four flagship salons in Nairobi, a distribution hub in Dubai, and an e-commerce store that ships wigs, extensions, and after-care products to customers in 15 countries, including the US and UK diaspora markets. Annual turnover now tops KES 250 million and supports more than 60 stylists, colourists, and digital-content creators.

Kirungo, who holds a BSc in International Business Administration from USIU-Africa and advanced certification in trichology from the Istituto di Moda Burgo, has built her brand on traceable, single-donor hair, bespoke fittings, and lifelong maintenance plans that keep return rates above 70 percent. She spearheaded Nywele’s 2024 “Love Your Line” campaign, East Africa’s first medically endorsed hair-loss clinic for women undergoing chemotherapy or postpartum alopecia and is piloting a Nairobi factory to process locally sourced human hair into lace closures and clip-ins.

Named to Business Daily’s Top 40 Under 40 Women (2019), Kirungo mentors youth through free quarterly boot camps in wig making, digital marketing, and financial literacy, equipping over 1,200 trainees to launch their own micro-salons. Her mission: position a Made-in-Kenya luxury hair label on every global beauty shelf while uplifting the talent behind it.
