Guracha Galgalo
Hon. Guracha Galgalo, who served as the Member of Parliament for Moyale, is remembered as a devoted public servant and a passionate advocate for peace and development in northern Kenya. Throughout his tenure, he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his constituents, focusing on access to education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment. Representing a region often marginalized and affected by recurring intercommunal tensions, Hon. Galgalo stood out as a unifying leader committed to building bridges between communities.
Tragically, he was among the leaders who lost their lives in the 2006 Marsabit plane crash while on a peace mission aimed at resolving long-standing ethnic conflicts in the region. The mission was a reflection of his deep belief in dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities of northern Kenya.
Hon. Galgalo’s legacy lives on through the positive impact he made during his time in office. His unwavering dedication to promoting unity and delivering development has earned him a place of honour in Kenya’s history. His sacrifice in the line of duty remains a powerful symbol of patriotism and selflessness. He is celebrated not only as a political leader but also as a peacemaker who gave his life for the stability and progress of his nation.
