Hellen Wambura Mwangi

Hellen Wambura Mwangi is recognized for her outstanding work in researching, scripting, and directing the documentary film MATUMIA: Tracing the Roots, which explores the cultural heritage of the Kauma sub-tribe of the Mijikenda community. The film was featured at the 2024 Kenya National Drama and Film Festival, earning acclaim for its cultural insight and storytelling.

As a young filmmaker training at the Kenya Film School, Hellen also directed a feature film titled LIGHTS OUT, which explores themes of crime and social responsibility. This work earned her a nomination at the 2024 Kalasha International Film Festival, highlighting her talent and growing influence in Kenya’s film industry.
