Hilary Kipkemboi Rono

Dr. Kipkemboi is being honoured for his contribution in the establishment and development of eye care in Kenya and beyond. His research on the use of smartphones for the identification of eye problems in communities and schools has contributed towards universal health coverage. Currently, he is a member of a core team of experts conducting ongoing Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) a survey in more than 15 counties, using the Portable Eye Examination Kit (PEEK) technology.
