Innocent “Namcos” Simiyu
Innocent “Namcos” Simiyu is a respected Kenyan rugby coach and former international player best known for his tenure as the Head Coach of the Kenya Rugby Sevens team, popularly known as Shujaa. A former captain of the national side, Simiyu brought his experience, discipline, and analytical approach to the role, guiding Kenya through key tournaments in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. His leadership emphasized player development, tactical awareness, and professionalism both on and off the field.
Before his coaching career, Simiyu enjoyed a successful playing stint, representing Kenya in over 120 matches between 2002 and 2010. Known for his agility, intelligence, and vision on the pitch, he was a crucial figure during Kenya’s rise in global rugby sevens competitions. After retiring from active play, he transitioned into coaching and rugby administration, determined to elevate the standards of the sport locally.
As head coach, Simiyu focused on building a sustainable system for nurturing young talent and promoting teamwork and resilience.
