Intalo Isaac Hassan

Hassan was honoured for his outstanding contribution towards promoting education for all, with a particular focus on improving access to quality learning in Tiaty West Sub-County. Passionate about empowering young people through education, he played a key role as one of the pioneers who spearheaded the establishment of the first day secondary school in the Sub-County. This initiative was born out of concern for the alarming cases of Class 8 dropouts, many of whom could not proceed to secondary school due to the high cost of boarding fees.

By introducing a more affordable day-schooling option, Hassan and his team created a lifeline for many students, allowing them to continue their studies while staying close to their families. This groundbreaking step has not only reduced school drop-out rates but also inspired greater community participation in education.

The ripple effect of this initiative has been immense—improved literacy levels, increased opportunities for employment, and a shift towards better livelihoods, even within the volatile and insecure Suguta Valley corridor. Hassan’s vision and commitment have transformed education into a beacon of hope, empowering the youth to break cycles of poverty and contribute positively to the future of their community.
