Kiiru Muhoya

Kiiru Muhoya, Kenyan fintech pioneer launched Fingo Africa in 2020 with a simple conviction: young Africans deserve a banking experience as intuitive as their favourite apps. As co-founder and CEO, he oversaw the rollout of peer-to-peer transfers, goal-based savings tools and business accounts wrapped in a social-media-style interface that resonated instantly with Kenya’s digital natives. Within two years Fingo attracted more than 150,000 active users, proving that slick design and mobile-first agility could win trust where legacy banks often faltered.

Muhoya’s leadership pushed Fingo into Y Combinator’s 2021 cohort and secured over $4 million in seed funding, cementing the startup’s pan-African ambitions. A strategic partnership with Ecobank is now opening doors in West and Central Africa, while his team pilots credit-scoring algorithms that tap transaction data to underwrite microloans. Next on Muhoya’s roadmap: embedding investment-round features, forging telco integrations for zero-rated banking, and expanding into three new markets by 2026. With his sights set on reshaping both consumer and small-business finance across the continent, he is proving that banking built for youth can outpace institutions built for the past.
