Madrin Maina
Eng. Madrin Maina is a Kenyan engineer and purpose-driven leader who made the bold decision to leave behind lucrative career opportunities in pursuit of work that aligned more closely with impact and sustainability. That conviction led her to Sistema.bio, a global social enterprise focused on renewable energy solutions for smallholder farmers, specifically through affordable and scalable biogas technology.
Starting as Technical Operations Manager, Madrin quickly proved her ability to lead with both precision and empathy, overseeing the deployment and servicing of bio-digesters across Kenya. Her engineering expertise, combined with a deep understanding of rural energy needs, positioned her to drive technical excellence while building trust with the farming communities the company serves. She has since risen to become Country Manager, where she now oversees strategy, operations, and stakeholder engagement for Sistema.bio Kenya.
In her current role, she leads one of the most dynamic clean energy teams in East Africa, focused on reducing reliance on firewood and fossil fuels, improving agricultural productivity, and promoting climate resilience through circular bioenergy solutions. She is a strong advocate for women in STEM and sustainable development, proving through her journey that impact and innovation can thrive side by side. Her work continues to transform both rural livelihoods and the broader narrative around Africa’s renewable energy future.
