Mirugi Kariuki

Hon. Mirugi Kariuki, a former Assistant Minister for Internal Security, is remembered for his unwavering commitment to promoting peace, stability, and national security in Kenya. Throughout his political career, he was known as a passionate advocate for justice, cohesion, and the protection of all Kenyan citizens. His role in the Ministry of Internal Security placed him at the heart of critical efforts to address insecurity and promote harmony across the country.

Tragically, Hon. Mirugi was among the leaders who lost their lives in the 2006 Marsabit plane crash. The delegation was on a peace mission to northern Kenya, tasked with mediating inter-community conflicts and fostering dialogue among rival groups. His participation in this high-stakes mission reflected his dedication to peacebuilding and his belief in a united Kenya where every region, regardless of its challenges, deserved peace and attention from national leadership.

Hon. Mirugi’s sacrifice in the line of duty was honoured nationwide, serving as a powerful reminder of the risks taken by leaders who champion national unity.
