Nahashon Mungai

Nahashon Mungai is the Kenyan deal-maker who turned Standard Investment Bank (SIB) into a regional force in online trading and structured products. Recruited in 2018 to launch the Global Markets franchise, the Jomo Kenyatta University actuarial-science graduate (CISI-certified) built a full-service dealing room from scratch, poaching senior FX and fixed-income traders from tier-one banks and installing Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and Calastone infrastructure within a year.

His flagship innovation, Mansa X-Kenya’s first CMA-regulated multi-asset money-manager—gives retail and institutional clients AI-assisted access to currencies, commodities, indices, and crypto via a single shilling-denominated fund. Assets under management have grown from KSh 350 million at launch to over KSh 7 billion in 2025, while quarterly investor reports meet GIPS standards, setting a new benchmark for transparency in East Africa’s nascent online-trading space.

Mungai also led SIB’s entry into carbon-credit derivatives, executing the Nairobi Securities Exchange’s inaugural voluntary-carbon auction in March 2025, and structured the first sharia-compliant FX hedging solution for Kenyan tea exporters. As Executive Director he chairs the bank’s Risk & Compliance Committee, ensuring all products align with CMA and IOSCO guidelines, and mentors young quants through the CFA Society Kenya.

By fusing actuarial rigour with fintech agility, Nahashon Mungai is charting a path for Kenyan capital markets to compete on a global stage while safeguarding investor trust.
