Nathan Masyuko

Nathan Masyuko is a Kenyan tech entrepreneur and gaming evangelist who has spent more than a decade building East Africa’s interactive-media economy. A graduate of Strathmore University’s informatics program, he began by organising Nairobi’s first “Game Jam” in 2012, then founded NexGen Studios to give young coders hands-on experience in Unity and Unreal. In 2018 he co-launched Ludique Works, where he now serves as chief executive, curating Africa’s largest distributed accelerator for game developers. The firm’s flagship initiative, the Africa Game Developers Community (AGDC), inks more than 150 studios in 12 countries to shared publishing deals, art assets, and investment pitch-rooms, helping members generate an estimated US $4.5 million in cumulative revenue since 2020.

Masyuko has secured partnerships with Epic Games, the African Development Bank, and GIZ’s Digital Skills programme, delivering masterclasses that have certified 6,000 students in coding, 3-D art, and audio design. He spearheaded the #Gaming4Good series, which turns local folklore into mobile titles that teach climate-smart farming and gender-based-violence prevention; two of these games are now used in Kenyan secondary-school digital-literacy courses.

Elected to the advisory board of the Africa Esports Championship in 2024, he also mentors start-ups through Mastercard Foundation’s EdTech Fellowship. Masyuko’s vision remains clear: position gaming as a viable career and a tool for social change across the continent while proving that African stories can compete on the global stage.
