Nellie Caroline Kuya Munala
Nellie was honoured for her exemplary and far-reaching contribution to youth development in Kenya and across the Commonwealth. Passionate about empowering the next generation, she has dedicated her career to creating opportunities that enable young people to thrive academically, socially, and economically. As a member of the Committee on the Presidential Report on the Implementation of Education Reforms, Nellie played a pivotal role in promoting non-formal education and learning for youth aged 14 to 24, ensuring that out-of-classroom experiences also contribute meaningfully to their personal growth and future prospects.
Her influence extends beyond Kenya’s borders, having contributed significantly to the development and implementation of youth development strategies, structures, policies, and best practice frameworks for Commonwealth countries in the Africa Region. These initiatives have strengthened youth engagement, leadership, and employability across diverse cultural and economic settings.
Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of The President’s Award – Kenya, Nellie continues to inspire and guide thousands of young people through experiential learning, volunteerism, and community service. Her unwavering dedication has left a lasting impact, equipping youth with essential life skills, promoting civic responsibility, and fostering a generation of confident, capable, and socially conscious leaders.
