Nicholas Chumba Musonye

Nicholas Musonye was honored for his outstanding contribution to the growth and development of soccer in East and Central Africa. As the Secretary General of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), he has played a pivotal role in transforming the region’s football landscape through effective leadership, strategic planning, and tireless dedication to nurturing talent. Under his stewardship, CECAFA has successfully organized numerous regional tournaments that have provided a vital platform for young players to showcase their skills, gain international exposure, and elevate the profile of East and Central African football on the global stage.

Nicholas’s leadership extends beyond regional coordination—he has been instrumental in guiding and steering Kenya’s preparations to host two major continental tournaments, the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027. His efforts have contributed significantly to strengthening Kenya’s football infrastructure, enhancing administrative capacity, and positioning the country as a capable host of major sporting events.
