Pauline Muthoni Ngunjiri
Muthoni was feted for her remarkable dedication to peace efforts that have left a lasting impact on communities affected by conflict. She rose to national recognition for her tireless work during the aftermath of the 2007/08 post-election violence crisis, a period marked by deep divisions and displacement. At a time when tensions were high and trust was broken, Muthoni took the courageous step of leading internally displaced persons (IDPs) from temporary camps back to their homes, facilitating reconciliation between displaced families and their neighbors.
Her work went beyond relocation—she actively mediated disputes, promoted dialogue, and encouraged forgiveness as a means to rebuild fractured relationships. As a committed member of the Ainabkoi Sub-County Peace Committee, Muthoni continues to spearhead initiatives that foster peace and social cohesion. She organizes community forums, school outreach programs, and women’s groups to strengthen conflict resolution skills and promote harmonious coexistence.
Her unwavering commitment has helped restore stability and trust in communities that once faced bitter divisions. Muthoni’s selflessness, courage, and persistence stand as a testament to the transformative power of grassroots peacebuilding, inspiring many to believe that reconciliation is possible, even after deep-seated conflict.
