Rose Thiga

Rose Thiga is a Kenyan strategist and operator shaping how capital, talent, and technology power inclusive growth across Africa. Since April 2022 she has served as Head of Strategy at Safaricom PLC, where she guides portfolio diversification beyond mobile money, championing green I-o-T, health-tech, and Ethiopia market entry, while co-anchoring the telco’s 2050 net-zero roadmap.

Thiga honed her execution muscle as Chief Operating Officer of PayGo Energy, scaling its smart LPG platform from 2,000 to 20,000 Nairobi households and unlocking blended finance that cut customer fuel costs by 30 percent. Earlier, she founded BAP Africa, advising private-equity and corporate investors on deals worth more than US $500 million in manufacturing, mobility, and renewable energy. Her global résumé includes strategy and finance roles at Simba Corporation, PwC, Ametek, Credit Suisse, SunGard, and Deloitte, giving her a 360-degree view of emerging-market value chains.

A Wharton MBA (Finance & Management) and Drexel BSBA alumna, Thiga mentors women analysts through the Kenya Private Sector Alliance and sits on the boards of M-Kopa and the African Leadership Academy Foundation. Her podcast, Shaping Africa, spotlights diaspora returnees who are building resilient businesses back home, offering practical playbooks on governance, fundraising, and culture. Driven by the mantra “strategy serves people,” she continues to weave commercial innovation with socio-economic impact.
