Ruth Apondi Omondi
Ruth Apondi Omondi is a visionary maternal health nurse and the founder of Smart Mama, a pioneering m-Health platform launched in Nairobi in 2024. Built to bridge critical gaps in maternal care, this initiative delivers clinically accurate information, educational resources, telehealth services, and community support—empowering expectant mothers with the tools they need for safe pregnancies and healthy childbirths.
Ruth draws on both her academic foundation in nursing (Kenyatta University) and her firsthand experience supporting vulnerable mothers. Faced with daily challenges of under-resourced healthcare systems, she turned to technology as a potent lifeline, enabling remote education, timely interventions, and accessible consultation—especially critical in underserved communities.
