Sam Manua
Sam Manua is a dynamic tech leader whose unconventional journey into cybersecurity is marked by bold choices and a clear sense of purpose. Initially dreaming of becoming a doctor, he was offered a place to study law at the University of Nairobi, a path he respectfully declined. Instead, Sam charted his own course, choosing to pursue a degree in Telecommunication Engineering at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), where his passion for technology and problem-solving took root.
That decision laid the foundation for a fast-rising career that has now seen him become the Associate Director for Africa at NetGuardians, a Swiss-based cybersecurity firm specializing in AI-powered fraud prevention for banks and financial institutions. At just 35, Sam leads strategic operations, client success, and market expansion across the continent, playing a critical role in strengthening Africa’s digital trust landscape.
His deep understanding of engineering systems, paired with sharp business acumen, allows him to bridge technical complexity with real-world risk management. Sam is also a vocal advocate for cybersecurity awareness, digital transformation, and local talent development in tech. His journey, from defying convention to leading continental strategy, speaks to the power of self-direction, resilience, and staying true to one’s instincts.
