Simiyu David Lugoye

David was honored in 2023 for his remarkable dedication to championing peace programs and spearheading community development initiatives. Over the years, he has used various platforms, including sports, to bring together individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Believing in the unifying power of sports, David has organized tournaments and friendly matches that foster dialogue, mutual respect, and lasting relationships among communities that have previously experienced tension and conflict.

In addition to sports, David has been an outspoken advocate for inter-marriages between different communities as a way of strengthening bonds and promoting peaceful coexistence. His forward-thinking approach recognizes that such unions can bridge divides and encourage social cohesion for generations to come.

David is also celebrated as one of the founders of Operation Rudi Nyumbani (Operation Return Home), a peace-driven initiative formed after the 2007–2008 post-election violence. This program played a vital role in helping displaced persons resettle, rebuild their homes, and restore trust between affected communities.
