Starlin Farah
Starlin Farah is a medical doctor by training, holding a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) from Kenyatta University, who has become a central force behind Ecodudu’s groundbreaking solution in waste management and sustainable agriculture. As COO and Co-Founder, Starlin leads the company’s research into innovative applications of the Black Soldier Fly (BSF)—expanding its utility beyond animal feed and organic fertilizers into areas such as pharmaceuticals, water purification, and cosmetics.
Under her operational leadership, Ecodudu has developed a circular economy model that captures organic waste—particularly avocado residues—to convert it into high-protein “Dudu Meal” for animal feed and nutrient-rich “Shamba Mix” fertilizer. Ecodudu currently diverts approximately 20 tonnes of organic waste daily, delivers cost-effective, nutrient-dense inputs to smallholder farmers, and contributes to job creation and improved livelihoods.
Through Starlin’s guidance, Ecodudu has established strategic partnerships (e.g., with EcoVineyard) to build state-of-the-art facilities, designed to sustainably process large-scale waste into valuable agricultural inputs. Her leadership exemplifies how science-driven innovation can address environmental challenges, improve food security, and transform waste into wealth—positioning Ecodudu as a leading pioneer in Kenya’s green-tech ecosystem.
