Sylvia Museiya
Sylvia Museiya is a rising star in Kenya’s public service and currently the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Wildlife, making her the youngest PS in the Kenya Kwanza administration. Her appointment marked a significant generational shift in the country’s governance landscape and positioned her as a fresh voice within the national cabinet. As the reality of her role sinks in, so does the weight of her responsibility, to steward one of Kenya’s most critical sectors at the intersection of conservation, tourism, and community livelihoods.
A trained lawyer and environmental advocate, Sylvia brings to the role a unique blend of legal insight, youth-focused leadership, and a passion for sustainable development. She has quickly set out to align wildlife conservation efforts with community empowerment, ecosystem resilience, and economic transformation, recognizing that wildlife is both a heritage asset and a driver of inclusive growth.
In a space traditionally dominated by seasoned bureaucrats, Sylvia’s presence signals both renewal and resolve. Her work now involves balancing conservation priorities with human-wildlife conflict mitigation, policy reform, and global partnerships. As one of the youngest voices at the cabinet table, Sylvia Museiya is not just holding space, she is helping redefine what future-facing, values-driven public leadership looks like in Kenya.
