Thomas Chagamba

Thomas Chagamba, a former Eastern Provincial Police Officer, is remembered as a committed and courageous law enforcement leader who dedicated his life to serving Kenya. He was one of the key figures who tragically lost his life in the 2006 Marsabit plane crash—a national tragedy that claimed the lives of several senior government and security officials. The delegation was on a vital peace mission to northern Kenya, an area then marred by intercommunal violence, political tension, and recurring insecurity.

Chagamba’s presence on the mission underscored his significant role in fostering peace, promoting dialogue, and restoring order in conflict-prone regions. As a senior police officer, he was deeply involved in strategies to de-escalate violence and improve relations among divided communities. His extensive knowledge of regional dynamics, coupled with his calm and firm leadership, made him a respected figure in law enforcement circles.

Throughout his career, Chagamba demonstrated unwavering dedication to national security, often taking on complex and sensitive assignments. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the officers he mentored, and the peace efforts he championed. His ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty is a solemn reminder of the courage and commitment required to build a more peaceful and united Kenya.
