Tom Kinyanjui
Tom Kinyanjui is founder and CEO of RadiantAI Diagnostics, a Nairobi-based health-tech company deploying deep-learning imaging tools to frontline clinics across Africa, including rural regions. Since 2022 he has overseen the rollout of ultrasound and X-ray units that analyse scans in thirty seconds, flagging tuberculosis, lesions, pneumonia, and trauma injuries where radiologists are scarce. The platform’s algorithms, trained on four million anonymised images donated by hospitals, deliver decision support in English, Swahili, and Luganda.
Backed by the Kenya Medical Research Institute, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and a 2024 strategic investment from Google Health, RadiantAI now serves 140 facilities in Kenya, Uganda, and Ghana, processing 9,000 studies each day. Audits show a 37 percent reduction in diagnostic turnaround time and a 22 percent drop in preventable complications.
Kinyanjui holds a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Nairobi and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from Imperial College London. Before founding RadiantAI he led image-analysis projects at Philips Research Africa. He mentors start-ups through the Norrsken accelerator and speaks on ethical AI and data sovereignty. His 2025 priorities include enhancing offline capability, improving data clarity, and closing a Series A round to scale secure clinician training across the continent.
