Tracey Shiundu
Tracey Shiundu is the CEO and Co-founder of FunKe Science, a Kenyan education startup on a mission to make science fun, relatable, and accessible for children across the country. With a strong background in education and a passion for STEM, Tracey co-founded FunKe to challenge the perception of science as difficult or intimidating, especially in underserved schools where practical learning tools are often lacking.
Under her leadership, FunKe Science has developed hands-on science kits, teacher training programs, and student workshops designed to ignite curiosity and foster experiential learning. These tools allow learners to connect theory to real-world applications, making science not only more engaging but also more culturally relevant. Tracey’s work is rooted in the belief that sparking scientific interest early can expand opportunities for innovation, critical thinking, and long-term career development in STEM fields.
Beyond classrooms, she is actively building partnerships with educators, NGOs, and government stakeholders to scale FunKe’s impact nationally. Through her advocacy and enterprise, Tracey is helping reshape Kenya’s STEM education landscape, empowering both learners and teachers to embrace science as a tool for problem-solving, discovery, and transformation. Her vision is bold and clear: a generation of young Africans excited to learn, innovate, and lead through science.
