Trushar Khetia
Trushar Khetia is a visionary Kenyan entrepreneur whose innovative spirit has reshaped both the advertising and retail sectors in East Africa. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, he developed a keen business sense early in life. In 2012, he founded Tria Transit Media, a pioneering company specializing in transit advertising across buses, rail, and airlines. Within a year, Tria had secured top-tier clients such as Unilever, Google, Coca-Cola, and Lenovo—demonstrating the scalability and effectiveness of transit media. The company quickly expanded beyond Kenya, establishing partnerships in Kigali, Rwanda, with over 100 buses, and later in Tanzania through collaborations with Precision Air, RwandAir, and UDA Rapid Transit in Dar es Salaam.
Building on this success, Khetia diversified into retail in 2014, acquiring his first supermarket. Within a year, he had expanded Society Stores to four outlets, rapidly tripling turnover. By 2015, he operated five supermarkets, with Society Stores achieving $14 million in revenue, while Tria Kenya and Tria Tanzania recorded $700,000 and $200,000 respectively.
Khetia’s ventures highlight his ability to identify untapped opportunities and scale them into thriving businesses. His impact lies not only in creating jobs and wealth but also in modernizing industries, inspiring a new generation of African entrepreneurs to think big and act boldly.
