Umulqer Adam
Umulqer Adam is the dynamic Founder and Director of Research Programmes at UMITA Limited, a Nairobi‑based management consulting firm specializing in social science research, climate project design, and grant management across Eastern and Southern Africa. With a Bachelor’s and master’s degree in international relations, Foreign Policy, and Diplomacy from USIU—and currently pursuing a PhD—Umulqer brings academic rigor and strategic vision to her work.
Her journey into entrepreneurship was sparked during her maternity leave, when she resolved to build financial independence for her family. That decision led her to take a bold risk: founding UMITA to serve as an agent of environmental restoration and social inclusion. Under her leadership, UMITA launched transformative initiatives like the Papariko Mangrove Restoration Project, which has rehabilitated hundreds of hectares of coastal mangroves and uplifted over 10,000 households—particularly women—via sustainable livelihoods in nursery management and conservation efforts.
As Director of Research Programmes, Umulqer oversees research, monitoring & evaluation, capacity building, and grant management projects. Her vision has supported over 4,000 individuals, empowering them with income-generating opportunities and climate resilience skills.
Driven by the belief that “you can be who you think you are,” she continues to inspire community-focused innovation, blending professional expertise with social purpose to shape a greener, more inclusive Africa.
