Wanja Maina

Wanja Maina is a passionate and tireless advocate for the rights and inclusion of persons living with disabilities in Kenya and beyond. Born with a physical disability, Wanja has used her own lived experiences to fuel her activism and amplify the voices of those who are often marginalized or overlooked in society. Her advocacy is deeply rooted in the belief that disability is not inability, and that inclusive policies and environments are essential for a just and equitable society.

Through her work in both grassroots mobilization and policy engagement, Wanja has been instrumental in pushing for accessible infrastructure, inclusive education, disability-sensitive healthcare, and equal employment opportunities. She is known for her bold and articulate voice in public discourse, media, and civil society platforms, where she challenges stereotypes and advocates for systemic change.

Wanja also collaborates with various organizations and government agencies to develop frameworks that support the rights of differently-abled individuals, including promoting universal design and access to assistive technologies. Beyond advocacy, she mentors young people with disabilities and encourages them to embrace leadership and self-empowerment.

Her work continues to break barriers, shift mindsets, and pave the way for a more inclusive future where everyone, regardless of ability, has a place at the table.
