Wanjiku Chebet Kanjumba
Wanjiku Chebet Kanjumba has already made history as the Co‑Founder, CEO, and Chairwoman of Vicillion, a pioneering infrastructure development and R&D firm developing the world’s first equatorial commercial spaceport, the Omega Spaceport. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University, where she also completed a minor in space operations.
Her early career was defined by rigorous technical training and training as the first Kenyan graduate of the Advanced PoSSUM Academy’s Scientist-Astronaut Candidate Program, positioning her at the forefront of upper-atmosphere science and citizen space research. She has held roles including airworthiness engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace, and strategic leadership in Kenya’s first independent space company, SPARC (Space Partnerships and Research Company).
Under Wanjiku’s leadership, Vicillion is also launching a $500 million Omega Fund to finance commercial space infrastructure and innovation across Africa and beyond. As a Citizen Scientist with the European Space Agency and a member of the Space Generation Advisory Council, she advocates global participation in aerospace and emphasises STEM mentorship for African youth and women in science.
