Wanjiku Kihika

Wanjiku Kihika, also known as “Shikoh,” is a Kenyan youth activist and founder of Tribeless Youth, a dynamic civic-tech movement dedicated to dismantling tribal politics and nurturing issue-based political engagement across Kenya. Born in Nakuru, Wanjiku was deeply affected by the post-election violence of 2007 and 2013, resolving to create a more inclusive political discourse free from ethnic animosity. This led her to launch the #TribelessYouth campaign, which quickly evolved from a social media hashtag into a full-fledged civic movement impacting youth across the country.

As Executive Director, Wanjiku mobilizes young people through artivism, storytelling, digital advocacy, and peer-to-peer mentorship. Tribeless Youth hosts the Uwazi Festival, organizes county roadshows, and collaborates with creatives to foster civic consciousness, accountability, and peaceful coexistence. Her leadership has earned recognition including first runner-up in the 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Awards and a TEDx speaking credit, further affirming her impact in social justice activism.

Wanjiku’s work continues to inspire a wave of civic-minded youth, promoting governance rooted in unity, transparency, and democratic values. By transforming digital activism into tangible community action, she remains a powerful force for change in Kenya’s political and social landscape.
