Yasmin Mohammed Nassur
Yasmin Mohammed Nassur was honoured for her outstanding advocacy and leadership in promoting the rights of women and girls across Kenya. She has dedicated her work to raising awareness on constitutional rights, reproductive health, and gender equality through community outreach and public education initiatives. Her approach blends innovation, compassion, and a deep understanding of the social challenges facing women and girls in marginalized communities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Yasmin demonstrated creativity and resilience by designing a pad dispenser made from a repurposed water jerrican. This unique invention ensured that adolescent girls and young women could access menstrual products easily and sustainably, even during periods of restricted movement. Her innovation became a symbol of practical problem-solving driven by empathy and determination.
Beyond advocacy, Yasmin established a fully equipped feminist information centre in Kibera. The centre serves as a safe space where women and girls can access mentorship, legal guidance, and empowerment programs. Through this initiative, she continues to build confidence, leadership, and awareness among young women.
Her tireless efforts have not only improved access to essential resources but also inspired communities to uphold dignity, equality, and justice for all.
